Terms & Conditions

1. Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to Ridey ("we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the Ridey mobile application or website (collectively, the "Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Platform.

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Eligibility

To use Ridey you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old to create an account.
  • Be at least 21 years old to rent a vehicle.
  • Hold a valid driver's license issued in your country of residence.
  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
  • Not be prohibited from using our services under applicable law.

3. Account Registration

You must create an account to access most features of the Platform. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at contact@rideyapp.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we believe are being used fraudulently.

4. The Ridey Platform

Ridey is a peer-to-peer marketplace that connects car owners ("Hosts") with individuals seeking to rent vehicles ("Renters"). Ridey is not a car rental company and does not own or operate any of the vehicles listed on the Platform. We facilitate the connection between Hosts and Renters and provide supporting services including payment processing and in-app communication.

Ridey does not guarantee the availability, condition, or fitness of any vehicle listed on the Platform.

5. Bookings and Payments

All bookings are made through the Platform. When you confirm a booking as a Renter, you agree to pay the total amount displayed, including the daily rate, trip fee, any applicable young driver fee, and any add-ons selected.

Payments are processed securely through our payment partners. Ridey accepts major credit/debit cards and other payment methods available in the app. All prices are displayed in the local currency applicable to the booking.

Hosts receive their earnings in their Ridey wallet after each completed trip and may request a payout at any time, subject to our payout processing schedule.

6. Cancellation Policy

Cancellation terms depend on the rate selected at booking:

  • Refundable Rate: Full refund if cancelled within 24 hours of the booking being confirmed, provided the trip has not yet started.
  • Non-Refundable Rate: No refund after the booking is confirmed. A lower price is offered in exchange for this non-refundable commitment.

If a Host cancels a confirmed booking, the Renter will receive a full refund. Repeated Host cancellations may result in account suspension.

7. Renter Responsibilities

As a Renter, you agree to:

  • Hold a valid driver's license and be legally permitted to drive in the jurisdiction where the rental occurs.
  • Return the vehicle at the agreed time and location in the same condition it was received.
  • Refuel the vehicle unless otherwise agreed with the Host.
  • Not smoke in the vehicle unless explicitly permitted by the Host.
  • Not use the vehicle for off-road driving, racing, or any illegal activity.
  • Report any accidents, damage, or incidents to Ridey and the Host immediately.
  • Pay for any damage caused during your rental period beyond normal wear and tear.
  • Comply with all applicable traffic laws and regulations.

8. Host Responsibilities

As a Host, you agree to:

  • Own or have the legal right to list the vehicle on the Platform.
  • Ensure the vehicle is roadworthy, legally registered, and properly insured at all times.
  • Accurately describe the vehicle's condition, features, and any restrictions.
  • Maintain the vehicle in a clean and safe condition for each Renter.
  • Be available and responsive to Renter messages and queries.
  • Honor confirmed bookings. Cancellations should only occur in genuine emergencies.
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations regarding vehicle rental in your jurisdiction.

9. Insurance and Protection

Ridey offers optional protection plans during checkout, including Insurance via Travelers and other available options. It is the Renter's responsibility to select an appropriate protection plan before confirming a booking.

Hosts are responsible for maintaining their own valid vehicle insurance that covers third-party rentals. Ridey does not provide primary insurance for vehicles listed on the Platform.

Neither Ridey nor any protection plan covers damage resulting from violations of these Terms, including off-road use, racing, or driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

10. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
  • Provide false or misleading information in your profile, listing, or communications.
  • Circumvent the Platform to arrange payments outside of Ridey.
  • Harass, threaten, or discriminate against other users.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Platform's technical systems.
  • Use the Platform if you have been previously banned or suspended by Ridey.

11. Ratings and Reviews

After each completed trip, both Renters and Hosts may leave ratings and written reviews. Reviews must be honest, based on actual experience, and must not contain offensive, discriminatory, or defamatory content. Ridey reserves the right to remove reviews that violate these guidelines.

12. Intellectual Property

All content on the Platform — including the Ridey name, logo, design, text, graphics, and software — is the property of Ridey or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any content without our prior written consent.

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses. We make no representations regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any content on the Platform.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Ridey shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Platform or any vehicle rented through it.

Ridey's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the Platform shall not exceed the total fees paid by you to Ridey in the three (3) months preceding the claim.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Ridey and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Platform, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

16. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any dispute arising from or related to these Terms or the Platform shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved, disputes shall be submitted to the competent courts of the jurisdiction in which Ridey operates.

17. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that violates these Terms or that we believe is harmful to other users, us, or third parties. You may close your account at any time from the Account settings in the app.

18. Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
